The Engineering
The room decides what you hear.
Movie night at your place: the dialogue is muddy, so the volume goes up. Then the action scene hits and everyone grabs for the remote. The TV was expensive. The sound still fights you.
Here's why. A movie soundtrack carries dialogue on its own center channel, and a TV's built-in speakers collapse it into everything else. A real center speaker anchors every word to the screen, surround speakers carry the effects around the seats, and calibration balances it all for where you actually sit.
Even the screen is engineering: seating distance sets its size, and the room's light decides between a large 4K TV and laser projection. We design all of it as one system, then tune it from the chair you'll watch in. For the full walkthrough, read our guide to building the ultimate home theater.

Any Room, Any Scale
From spare room to screening room.
A theater is an engineered room: the screen size comes from the seating distance, the speakers come from the room's shape, and the calibration ties it together. We handle that engineering at every scale, from a media room built around a large TV to the Kingsland Residence's dedicated theater with its 165-inch screen and tiered seating.
Some rooms earn their keep twice. The multi-use theater shown here runs a golf simulator by day and movie night after dark, with one projector serving both.
Every theater we build rides on the same wiring and network standards as the rest of the house, so streaming is as reliable as the projector itself.

Do we need a dedicated room for a home theater?
A media room does most of what a theater does, in a room the family already uses: a large TV or projector, surround sound, and one remote. When a spare room is available, we design it as a dedicated theater with controlled light and seating rows. Both get the same engineering.
Projector or a big TV? How do we decide?
Three things decide it: the light in the room, the distance from the seats to the screen, and the budget. A bright family room usually favors a large 4K TV; a light-controlled room opens the door to laser projection at sizes well past 100 inches. We install both and will show you the tradeoffs with real numbers.
What is Dolby Atmos, and do we need it?
Dolby Atmos adds height to surround sound: overhead speakers let a helicopter pass over the room. It shines in a dedicated theater. In a media room, we will tell you honestly whether the room supports it or whether the budget is better spent on the core speakers.
Can you upgrade a theater another company installed?
Yes. We repair, upgrade, and take over theaters installed by other companies, from a single failed component to a full rebuild like the Northwest Austin Home, where an existing theater got Triad speakers, a laser projector, and an acoustically transparent screen.
What does a home theater cost?
The honest answer is a range. A service call carries a minimum charge, and a simple install like a TV runs on an hourly basis plus equipment and tax. A dedicated theater gets a detailed proposal, documented room by room with real numbers, before you commit to anything. Projection or TV, speaker count, and seating move the number. Share your budget and we tailor the room to fit it.
We are building a new house. When should theater wiring go in?
Before drywall. Speaker, display, and network wiring cost the least and perform the best when they go in during framing, so bring us in at the prewire stage. We also retrofit finished rooms; it just takes more craft to hide the wire.
