Marble Falls Retreat
A rustic retreat wired end to end, with pool-side landscape audio, in-ground subwoofers hidden in the planters, and a fiber-linked cabana on one system.
The Project
This retreat was a complete remodel, and it started with the wiring. We rewired the whole property for full network and wireless coverage, the rustic main house and the detached cabana alike. The cabana's cabling runs all the way back to the main equipment rack in the house as home runs, with fiber optic links feeding a small rack out in the cabana. Coverage reaches every corner of the property with no dead zones, and a separate guest network keeps visitors isolated from the family's own.
Inside, the family room centers on a large Sony display with a soundbar-based surround system. Sony TVs continue through the upstairs master, the guest room, and the downstairs office, where the display was mounted to pull double duty: a work monitor when someone is working from the retreat, and a television the rest of the time, with a Roku Ultra handling streaming. Whole-home audio fills the dining room, great room, and kitchen, and the master and guest room each add their own audio and a Control4 thermostat.
Every light in the home runs on Control4 native keypad dimmers and lighting devices, so when the family or their guests head out, no light is left on behind them. The front door carries a communicating lock that Control4 can open or close remotely.
Outside is where the retreat opens up. The front patio, a sitting area around its own fireplace, gained speakers, an outdoor access point, and a TV above the flames. Down by the pool and the lake, the cabana runs audio under its covered patio on its own access point, and the pool is flanked by purpose-built landscape speakers and in-ground subwoofers hidden in the planters. A separate sitting area and outdoor fireplace on the pool side carry their own landscape speakers, so the sound stays balanced wherever you are on the property. The cabana has automated door locks of its own, so the owners can welcome guests without being on site.
